Progress OpenEdge Developer (Freelance possible)

📋 Tasks and responsibilities

We are seeking an experienced Progress OpenEdge Developer to help maintain, modernize and expand business-critical applications. In this role, you will work in a hybrid technical landscape that combines classic ABL development with modern API-driven architectures through PASOE.

You will collaborate closely with analysts, project managers, end users and fellow Progress specialists.

• Develop and maintain applications in ABL (Advanced Business Language)
• Design, structure and optimize database access in OpenEdge DB
• Build and expose APIs using OpenEdge Studio
• Analyze and improve performance, including queries, locking and transactions
• Integrate applications with internal and external systems

📝Your profile

You bring solid hands-on experience as a Progress OpenEdge Developer and are comfortable working independently in an environment with business-critical applications.

Must-have skills

• Strong experience with Progress OpenEdge / ABL
• Proven experience with PASOE (Progress Application Server)
• Experience with OpenEdge database design and performance tuning
• Good knowledge of API development and integrations
• Solid understanding of temp-tables, datasets and buffers
• Strong knowledge of transactions and locking concepts, including NO-LOCK, SHARE-LOCK and EXCLUSIVE-LOCK

Nice-to-have

• Experience with .NET
• Familiarity with modern IDEs such as Progress Developer Studio / PDSOE
• Experience with APIDOG
