HR Data Analyst (Freelance optional)

📋 Tasks and responsibilities

In this role, you will combine data analysis, reporting and process improvement with a strong focus on finance, HR data and transformation tracking.

Key focus areas

  • Define requirements for a central employee database; the role does not include direct work in the source HR system.
  • Connect data sources, including SAP, for use in Power BI and related reporting.
  • Help move Excel-driven processes toward scalable tools and integrated systems.
  • Develop detailed business cases and monitor implementation progress.
  • Support risk identification and performance follow-up across financial and operational topics.

Primary tasks & responsibilities

  1. Organization Design & Operating Model Development
    • Translate strategy into clear organizational frameworks and structures.
    • Conduct impact assessments covering cost, governance and workforce implications.
    • Work closely with HR, Finance and leadership to support implementation.
  2. Data Management, Analytics & Insights
    • Connect and consolidate data from SAP and other sources into Power BI dashboards.
    • Perform in-depth analysis on workforce and financial data.
    • Turn complex figures into clear, actionable insights.
    • Support scenario modeling and transformation tracking.
    • Maintain data consistency, traceability and governance across systems.
  3. Systems & Process Transformation
    • Support the move from Excel to integrated systems and tools.
    • Define and implement system requirements aligned with business needs.
    • Build scalable, structured and standardized processes.
    • Ensure tools support reporting, governance and decision-making.
    • Drive simplification and continuous improvement.
  4. Reporting, Governance & Business Case Development
    • Create and maintain Power BI dashboards and KPIs.
    • Prepare and present detailed business cases.
    • Track transformation initiatives, from diagnostic phase to implementation progress.
    • Support compliance and governance frameworks.
    • Identify and assess financial and operational risks.
  5. Stakeholder Collaboration & Change Enablement
    • Collaborate with HR business partners, Finance, IT and business leaders.
    • Provide analyses and recommendations to support decision-making.
    • Help users adopt new systems and processes.
    • Contribute with a strong analytical and consultative approach.

Technical Profile Requirements

  • Strong analytical profile; Excel and Power BI are required.
  • Experience with data integration, for example from SAP.
  • Experience with HR systems and workforce data.
  • Experience in transformation projects is a strong plus, especially diagnostic work and implementation tracking.
  • Ability to work with complex datasets and translate them into structured insights.
  • Strong systems knowledge and the ability to define tools and requirements.

Methodology / Certification Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Finance, or equivalent experience.
  • Strong experience in data analysis.

Language Requirements

  • English: excellent and mandatory.
  • Dutch: a plus.

Location & Working Model

  • Location: Brussels.
  • Hybrid working model; schedule to be discussed with the hiring manager.
  • Expected onsite presence: 2 to 3 days per week.
