Test Team Lead (Freelance possible)

📋 Tasks and responsibilities

As Team Lead Testing, you coordinate the planning and execution of the SAT test scope within a broader testing team setup. You help steer a distributed team environment and ensure test activities are aligned with the requested scope, priorities and delivery deadlines.

The team is responsible for executing sanity, regression and functional testing for business-as-usual changes, satellite applications and project-related evolutions. In addition, the team supports test automation setup by providing input to external parties and contributes to first-line defect analysis during major releases.

Testing activities take place mainly in a waterfall context, while Agile/Scrum ways of working are also present and will gradually expand. The role includes coordinating testing across different service domains, including:

• Message Exchange (MeX): Structure, Rectification, Measure/Bill
• Batch Treatment (BT): Infeed & Settlement
• Infrastructure-related changes such as upgrades, purging, configuration updates and connectivity changes

Your responsibilities include:

• coordinating SAT testing activities and the daily work of the testing team
• writing test strategies and defining test scenarios
• organising and following up sanity, regression and functional test execution
• logging, analysing and following up defects
• supporting first-line analysis for incoming defects linked to major releases
• executing DGO and Market tests when requested
• handling ad hoc requests from analysts
• reporting test progress, status and risks to the test managers

The role requires frequent interaction with analysts and external stakeholders. Communication must be possible in the user language: French, Dutch or English.

📝 Your profile

• You have solid experience as a test coordinator and functional tester.
• You have proven experience in a team lead role within a testing environment.
• You are a people manager and coach who can guide testers in a structured way.
• You are comfortable coordinating distributed and complex teams, including team members reporting to different stakeholders and working across multiple locations.
• You have experience writing test strategies and preparing test scenarios.
• You are familiar with formal test methods and techniques.
• You can report clearly on test activities and progress to test managers.
• You have hands-on knowledge of SQL, including writing and executing queries.
• You can work with SOAP/UI, XML and SQL.
• You have experience with waterfall testing methodology and ideally also within an Agile/Scrum project or testing context.
• You have experience in the Belgian energy sector.
• You have knowledge of at least one customer-related process, including Structure.
• You are able to read and understand Technical Design Documents, including conditional logic.
• You are familiar with test automation, as well as DevOps and VB script.
• You hold an ISTQB certification at Foundation level or higher.
• You communicate fluently in English at minimum C1 level. Knowledge of Dutch and French is also relevant for collaboration and user communication.
