About the role

The maritime forwarding team coordinates import and export shipments for multiple business units. The team ensures safe, compliant, cost-efficient and timely transport flows, including hazardous goods and waste shipments, while maintaining a high level of service for internal and external stakeholders.

To support knowledge retention and service continuity within the forwarding department, we are looking for a Maritime Import Forwarder.

📋 Tasks and responsibilities

  • Manage and follow up maritime import files from A to Z for multiple business units.

  • Collect and verify all transport documentation (BL, invoices, packing lists, certificates of origin, etc.) for accuracy and completeness.

  • Request releases from shipping lines and monitor terminal status, free time, demurrage and detention costs.

  • Communicate proactively with internal and external stakeholders to ensure a smooth operational flow.

  • Organize onward transport and align storage or transshipment activities when needed (bulk, containers, breakbulk).

  • Ensure incoming goods arrive safely, compliantly and cost-efficiently, in line with IMDG/ADR and waste regulations.

  • Prepare prepayments to shipping lines or forwarders when required and verify transport invoices.

  • Identify transport opportunities and continuously seek efficiency improvements within the import process.

  • Maintain overview and stay solution-oriented while handling multiple import files simultaneously.

Technical Profile Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Logistics Management, Supply Chain Management, or equivalent through experience.

  • Proficiency in Excel and Microsoft Office applications, including Outlook, Teams, Word and SharePoint.

  • Experience with transport software is a plus, but not required.

  • Knowledge of, or willingness to learn, Incoterms, transport and customs documentation, and regulations concerning hazardous goods and waste streams.

  • Affinity with inland navigation logistics, or willingness to expand knowledge in this domain.

  • Prior experience as an import expediteur or as a junior logistics professional.

  • Proactive mindset and eagerness to lead or support improvement initiatives.

  • Dutch – fluent (spoken and written)

  • English – fluent (spoken and written)

Location

  • Hoboken

  • Very occasional presence at other sites in Belgium may be requested.

📝Your profile

  • Bachelor’s degree in Logistics Management, Supply Chain Management, or equivalent experience.

  • Prior experience as an import expediteur or as a junior logistics professional.

  • Proven problem-solving skills.

  • Able to work autonomously.

  • Junior profiles are also welcome, provided they can work autonomously and demonstrate strong problem-solving skills.
