Senior Functional Analyst (Freelance optional)

📋 Tasks and responsibilities

In the context of a major business transformation program, we are looking for a senior functional analyst to reinforce existing teams.

As a senior analyst, you will join a department of about 90 people and contribute to the hand-over, refactoring or greenfield development of new business applications. You can handle all phases of a project and work effectively in an Agile environment.

You will be responsible for:

• Building strong and long-term relationships with business and project stakeholders, team managers and external partners
• Identifying, analysing, describing and validating existing business processes as well as new functional and non-functional user needs
• Translating requirements into business solutions by producing functional analyses and application designs
• Collaborating with technical team members to validate the functional design and support the translation into technical specifications
• Following up end-to-end on the delivery of new functionalities and applications
• Producing the documentation required throughout the different project stages
• Working closely with business analysts and developers, under the supervision of project managers and coordinators, to refine and validate proposed solutions
• Working closely with project managers to report status, facilitate decisions, manage risks and escalate when needed

Deliverables

The senior analyst is expected to deliver the following within the agreed deadlines:

• Analysis documentation
• Software requirements specifications, including diagrams and analyses
• Data models
• User stories
• Test plans and test cases

Mission & Working hours

The role is based in Brussels, Belgium.

You will work 5 days per week from Monday to Friday, with 7h48 per day. Homeworking is possible up to 3 days a week.

Languages

• French or Dutch: active knowledge (understanding, speaking, writing technical documentation and reading) of one of the two languages
• English: active knowledge, including writing documentation
• A good knowledge of the second national language is a plus

• Very strong functional and business analysis skills, with the ability to assimilate complex material quickly
• Excellent oral and written communication skills with business and development teams

• Strong ability to abstract complex material
• Willingness to work in changing business contexts
• Ability to integrate easily into an existing team and supervise junior colleagues
• Familiarity with Agile/Scrum methodologies
• Ability to understand technical language required for functional analysis, including APIs, mappings, business models, batches and services
• Knowledge of a broader application ecosystem based on technologies such as J2EE, Java 8, Oracle, Hibernate, JUnit, Selenium, Maven, Git and Jira
• Ability to interface with business stakeholders and help define their needs

Due to the nature of the activities, Belgian nationality is required.
