Senior Data & BI Engineer - AWS/Python (Freelance possible)

MISSION DESCRIPTION & CONSULTING PROFILE

As a senior BI / Data Engineer, you will contribute to a range of data management and engineering initiatives, combining project work with ongoing operational support. The role is centered on strengthening the data foundation used for analytics and reporting.

Description of The Mission

📋 Tasks and responsibilities

• Develop, run and enhance data pipelines for ingestion, transformation and delivery.
• Design and maintain schemas and data models, including dimensional modelling and Data Vault approaches.
• Manage and query data lake and data warehouse environments such as S3, ADLS and Redshift.
• Write, tune and troubleshoot advanced SQL queries and scheduled jobs.
• Maintain existing data jobs, resolve failures, manage changes and releases, and support new onboardings.
• Build, maintain and optimize both batch and streaming pipelines across the full flow from ingestion to serving.
• Perform incident troubleshooting and root-cause analysis when issues arise.
• Contribute to the orchestration and automation of data workflows.
• Work closely with project managers, business analysts, functional analysts and source-system owners to clarify requirements and deliver reliable datasets and data products.

Experience

• Proven experience as a senior Business Intelligence / Data Engineer.
• At least 10 years of relevant professional experience.

Knowledge

• Advanced SQL
• Python
• AWS, including Glue, S3 and Redshift

Competencies

• Strong hands-on background in building and maintaining large-scale data pipelines.
• Experience optimizing complex queries on large datasets.
• Practical expertise in Data Engineering, ETL/ELT, data ingestion, transformation, optimization, debugging and incident resolution.
• Ability to collaborate with both business and technical stakeholders to refine needs and deliver usable data assets.
