Junior IT Analyst - IT Operations Support (Freelance optional)

📋 Tasks and responsibilities

We are looking for a driven Junior IT Analyst / IT Operations Support professional to support IT initiatives end to end in an Agile/DevOps environment.

You help stakeholders structure analyses, translate needs into clear and testable functional requirements, and guide them through the required governance steps such as legal, compliance and architecture reviews.

You will work as a full member of a multidisciplinary feature team, delivering pragmatic and high-quality solutions while ensuring alignment with central platforms, services and governance.

  • Perform functional and technical analysis across different initiatives, including applications, integrations, data flows and change requests.
  • Structure and refine functional requirements and acceptance criteria, and document them in clear specifications and user stories.
  • Map current and target processes and information flows, and identify impacts on systems, interfaces and data.
  • Coordinate governance activities by preparing inputs, completing mandatory documentation and following up on approvals.
  • Work closely with engineering, QA, operations and stakeholders to balance business value, quality and delivery speed.
  • Provide second-line incident support, including root-cause analysis, prioritization, coordination with relevant teams, and documentation of corrective and preventive actions.
  • Contribute to Agile ceremonies and continuous improvement of ways of working.
  • Support automation use cases by helping assess feasibility, dependencies, risks and integration patterns such as API usage.

Required Experience and Maturity

We are looking for a junior profile with the maturity to support stakeholders professionally and maintain a clear overview of the IT landscape.

  • 1-3 years of relevant experience in a role focused on functional analysis.
  • Demonstrable stakeholder management skills, including structuring discussions, clarifying priorities and communicating clearly.

Skills and Knowledge

  • Strong analytical and conceptual skills, with experience in process modelling (for example BPMN) and defining precise requirements and acceptance criteria.
  • Basic understanding of integrations, APIs (REST/SOAP) and data flows, with the ability to ask the right questions about interfaces and dependencies.
  • Familiarity with SDLC fundamentals and Agile/DevOps ways of working.
  • Hands-on experience with Confluence and Jira, or similar tools, for documentation and backlog management.
  • A strong affinity for IT operations and troubleshooting of second-line incidents, with a root-cause and solution-oriented mindset.
  • Interest in workflow automation, for example with N8N, and in the integration of AI or agentic AI into business processes.
  • ITIL knowledge is a plus.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Languages: Dutch and English, both spoken and written.

Nice to Have

  • Basic knowledge of version control with Git and CI/CD concepts.
  • Understanding of data modelling, logging and monitoring, and non-functional requirements.
  • Experience in financial services or another regulated environment.

Practical

  • Work location: offices in Bornem and Aartselaar.
  • Home office is possible for 2 days.
  • You will be part of a multidisciplinary feature team and work closely with business departments, architecture and central teams.
