COBOL Developer / Analyst (Freelance optional)

📋 Tasks and responsibilities

Our client's IT department is looking to strengthen its current team supporting group life insurance systems.

We are seeking an IT Analyst/Developer to analyze and develop the solutions required to maintain and evolve our core application.

You will join a team of six colleagues who are eager to welcome you.

🛠️ Responsibilities

• Manage the daily operations of the group life back‑end application running on the mainframe.
• Deliver projects within agreed timelines.
• Monitor and follow up on daily incidents (low volume).
• Contribute to technical and functional documentation through code analysis and application behavior review.
• Implement simple, structured, and efficient solutions.

Profile

• Bachelor’s degree in IT development or equivalent experience.
• At least 3 years of experience in IT solutions within life insurance.
• Excellent command of French or Dutch, with good knowledge of the other national language, and comfortable working in English.
• Strong knowledge of COBOL / DB2; experience with mainframe environments and/or group life insurance is an asset.
• Proficient in Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
• Rigorous, organized, able to manage priorities and meet tight deadlines.
• Able to learn quickly and work at a sustained pace in a dynamic environment.
• Analytical mindset, solution‑oriented, and results‑driven.
• Able to communicate with all types of stakeholders and present results clearly to senior management.
• Autonomous, proactive, and eager to take on challenges.
• Creative, open‑minded, and willing to think outside the box.
